Who Have Been The Best Washington Players Of Late?
The Commanders players with the highest approximate value since 2014 are all linemen, with two-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle Jonathan Allen wracking up the highest career approximate value of any Washington starter over the last decade, at 54.
The three Washington players that trailed Allen were fellow seven-year Commanders starters Brandon Scherff and Ryan Kerrigan, who played for the club between 2015 and 2021 and 2014 and 2020, with career AV totals of 53 for each.
Scherff was the only player of the four to make an NFL All-Pro team, while also reaching five Pro Bowls as a member of the Commanders, while Kerrigan reached the postseason exhibition contest four times in his Washington career.
Rounding out the Washington Commanders Mount Rushmore of late was defensive tackle Daron Payne, who amassed a career AV total of 49 in his first six seasons with the club between 2018 and 2023, reaching the Pro Bowl once while posting 30 sacks and 193 solo tackles in his first 98 NFL games.
Of the four, only Payne is still with the team, meaning the 26-year-old Alabama alum has a shot at climbing the Commanders’ list come this time next year, when he’ll likely have a lot more tackles and sacks to add to his impressive six-year totals with the franchise.
