There aren’t a lot of NBA teams that have nosedived out of the gate at Virginia sportsbooks quite like the Washington Wizards have in 2023-24, with the club sitting ahead of the woebegone Detroit Pistons in the Eastern Conference standings at 8-37 (.178) and head coach Wes Unseld Jr. already shown the door. With Washington having zero chance of making the postseason for the first time in three years, it’s worth wondering what the club can get on the NBA trade market for their veteran assets.
One such asset is seventh year forward Kyle Kuzma, who has averaged 22 points, 6.5 rebounds and 4.4 assists per game in the Nation’s Capital this season, while posting a -0.1 win share in 45 games with the club. While Kuzma’s value has gone through the floor on the court this year, his potential contributions for a winning club have made him a trade asset for GM Will Dawkins, with the veteran potentially landing the Wizards draft capital ahead of the 2024 NBA Draft.
With the trade deadline arriving in early February, BetVirginia.com analyzed the biggest needs and rumors swirling across the NBA to develop hypothetical odds of the most likely trade candidates for Kuzma.

Where Does Kyle Kuzma Go Next?
The 2020 NBA champion and member of the 2018 NBA All-Rookie team appears set to return to the NBA’s Western Conference after the Feb. 8 deadline, with a quartet of teams on the western fringe leading the way to land Kuzma before the deadline. Chief amongst those are the 26-16 Sacramento Kings, who come in at +800 to land Kuzma on the trade market as they look to defend as Pacific Division champs in 2024.
Other potential landing spots for the 28-year-old veteran are the 25-21 Dallas Mavericks (+1000), the 19-24 Golden State Warriors (+1200), the Utah Jazz (+1500) and the Cleveland Cavaliers and Memphis Grizzlies, who are listed at +1750 apiece in the Kuzma sweepstakes.
There’s also a chance that Kuzma winds up with another NBA team or stays in Washington past the league’s trade deadline, with -125 odds that Kuzma achieves either feat after the early February trade deadline.
One thing that seems certain is that Kuzma’s three-year run with the Wizards is likely to be coming to an end sooner rather than later, with Washington looking to reset their roster under whichever head coach replaces Unseld in 2024 and beyond.
